Parents are a vital element of the many wonderful programs and expereinces that we are able to provide to our students at Our Lady of Mercy School. The following are some of the primary ways that parents are able to be involved:

Service Hours Program

The key to any successful school is the effort that people put into it, both by staff and families alike. It is for this reason that all OLM families are responsible for completing 25 hours of Service Hours per year.

Volunteering your time in a way that will benefit OLM is easy to do. Information regarding Service Hour Opportunities is available at the start of the school year and throughout the year on the parent portal. Each family is asked to make an effort to have some part of their service hours be involved with at least one of the major events at the school:
In addition to these major events there are a numerous other opportunities throughout the school year that allow for the completion of service hours.

PA     Parents Association

The chief purpose of the Parents Association, the Catholic school's version of a PTA, is to coordinate and run socials, foster curriculum enrichment, develop community outreach projects and supplement school sports programs. While those projects are very important, our primary focus is to host productive fundraisers to offset the cost of running our school and to meeet the yearly financial obligations dictated by our sponsors, the parishes of St. George and St. Margaret. This  volunteer organization consists of interested parents and guardians of OLM students. Annual dues are $100 per family and these dues are used to offset activities and gifts throughout the year.

Parent Ambassador Program

Comprised of current and past OLM parents who are willing to help promote Our Lady of Mercy School in various capacities of their choice throughout the year. This is not a committee and there are no monthly meetings. This pool of people are kept informed by the School Admissions Office of various opportunities and needs of Our Lady of Mercy School.
Some examples of Parent Ambassador Activities are:
  • Speak in person or on the phone with a prospective parent about your experience at OLM.
  • Provide tours at School Open Houses  
  • Help distribute Flyers or other Marketing Materials to local businesses and parishes within the community.
  • Assist in hosting small "coffee ands" at your home for interested parishioners of St. Margaret or St. George.  
  • Provide written testimony to your experience at OLM, to be used on school web-site and marketing materials.
  • Willing to represent Our Lady of Mercy School at various community events or activities.
  • Train and work with Student Ambassadors
